The CMod account was made to be used by the creative moderators. Instead of having a creations board, submissions are sent to the CMod account via private message. They will then be posted by CMod onto the moderators board where one or more mods will take responsibility for the application.
There is no official format for submissions and beginning the creation process with "Can I...", "What if..." or "Is there a..." is perfectly acceptable - we will try to be as helpful as possible throughout. The only real guideline is to keep things realistic as this forum has been made to be Hard Sci-Fi. I hope this does not stifle creativity and I look forward to seeing all the wondrous glory of reality coming forward in the collective imaginations of this forum.
Once approved by the Moderators the forum will be updated with information on the submitted material. All information that would be "available to the public" will be added to the Information Centre. The complete material will be documented on the staff board and used for reference (if needed during a dispute between players or, preferably, for GMs setting up plot). Separating public and private knowledge provides a more realistic feel to the forum, allows players to keep secrets and obstructs metagaming.
Characters
Applying: While an understanding of our stats system will be important to navigate the finer points of roleplay it is not required that you stat your own character. There will not be an allotted number of points per character (although an attempt at balancing potentially over-powered or "broken" characters will be made).
To apply all you need is a concept. The more detail you provide (to a point) the faster your application can be processed.
Players are not limited in the number of characters they may have.
Approved: Each approved character will have a post in the Character Registry containing their name, stats, details of their appearance and any other information that might be publicly available.
Full archives will be kept on the mod board for reference if players are accused of over-stepping their boundaries, or by GMs while planning the details of a game.
Ships & Stations
Applying: As this is a hard-sci-fi setting, the ins and outs of space travel can get quite complicated. The Science & Technology board contains all the relevant information to this application process, although it is not required that you know all of it. We aim to make everything in the game accessible to all players.
If you are applying for a character and wish for them to have their own ship or station you should include details of both in your initial application.
If you have an approved character and wish for them to acquire a ship or station then apply as usual by messaging CMod. If they possess the means to gain one without difficulty then roleplaying it's acquisition is not necessary. If your character is not able to easily acquire a ship then a roleplay thread/threads should be made detailing how it happened, ideally run by a GM, though this is not mandatory.
If you wish to ret-con the ownership of a ship or station you may still apply provided there are no roleplay threads with evidence to the contrary.
Approved: Ships are classed as being in the possession of a character and so their only record is on the mod board. Space Stations will be listed in the Locations and may or may not have a roleplay board created for them.
While players are encouraged to keep their space stations open to the public this is not mandatory. However, all stations can functionally be visited (externally, at least) by anyone with the resources to find and reach it and a forced entry can be attempted.
Solar Systems & Planets
Applying: [COMING SOON]
Approved: Most approved planets will have their own roleplaying board. Where they do not, the appropriate board will be linked to in it's informational thread in the Locations board.
It is preferred that players who write up new planets should be responsible for them, able to answer questions and, ideally, provide NPCs. However we understand that not everybody will want to do this so responsibility can be delegated to others.
Suggestions
If you have any questions please post them in the Guides, Questions & Suggestions board or pm CMod or myself and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
