This is a small string of stars which is located just outside the gas clouds of the nebula, giving it rare skies with views to the rest of the universe. It is for this reason that the Old-Tech Foundation has set up their HQ in the area.
The peninsula is a very affluent area and has two major governments which work together in a long-standing alliance which was established when the people of Ecuphor developed interplanetary travel. The appearance of extra-terrestrial humans quickly unified the inhabitants of Desa who made a peaceful alliance with the Ecuphorans. These groups were all the humans in the area for almost a century until an Interstellar Inc exploration ship visited the peninsula and connected it to the rest of the known nebula.
The most developed civilisations on Ecuphor were taking their first steps into space when a natural disaster of global scale was predicted. With the threat of extinction at their heels the contribution of resources towards space programs grew exponentially. This led to the development of much New-Tech which, though less efficient than common Old-Tech, is famed for it's beauty.
Although the surface of Ecuphor is still ravaged by a permanent, planet-wide storm there are multiple mining operations being carried out underground and there is a historic space station orbiting it: Torus I, home to the Ecuphor Government and many of it's people.
The Elliptical Dyad is a star system of two (habitable) planets which orbit in a near-perfect counterbalance. Two massive solar sailing ships travel from one planet to the other in a regular and lethargic pattern and the system is very popular area for solar sailing fanatics.
Desa was the only one of the two planets to support human life before Ecuphoran intervention. It has experienced over-population since before visitation from Ecuphor and this congestion has forced many people off-world.
Mayira is the other planet in the pair and, though completely uninhabited by humans until it's doscovery, was home to a thriving ecosystem. It is now used mostly as a tourist world and has very strict regulations enforced to conserve it's natural habitat. It has no obelisks and it's oceans are home to a number of floating cities, while the land is almost entirely undeveloped.
Sachopa is a tidally locked planet which is used under agreement by the Peninsula Alliance and belongs to neither Desa nor Ecuphor, though it has become home to many people emigrating from both worlds. It is ruled by capitalism and has an industry based on tourism with it's permanently sunny holiday villages and star-gazing luxury night-flights that offer passengers a rare night sky, unclouded by the gasses of the nebula.
Nomad is a planet of large size, low mass and no atmosphere which was claimed by the legally Ecuphoran Government under the Peninsula Alliance, though they had been mining it beforehand. After the Ecuphoran Space Jump mining operations slowed, but continued steadily and biomes were constructed on incredibly tall pillars to provide move comfortable conditions of gravitational pressure. Today it is a private metropolis of extreme wealth.
