The many populated planets of the nebula are home to a wide variety of animals, plants and other organisms of all shapes and sizes. While there is no species in the nebula that is identical to any on Earth (humans (and their microbiota) being the only exception) there are many features that you or I might recognise. Indeed, the language associated with animals and their classification, while not the complete nomenclature you or I might know, does share many root concepts. For example, if I look at a lynx I might say "That is a cat." even if I have not encountered a lynx before in my life. Such groups still exist; bears, canines, slugs, insects, fish, birds, raptors (that's birds of prey, not the dinosaur) - these and more can be found. Further more they are not always distinct, a notable examples being the Slug Cat. In short, the Platypus would not seem so out of place here. "Not the dinosaur?" you may well ask - and an excellent question if you do. Sadly for the people of the nebula they do not have the mysterious and amazing concept of a dinosaur - no great historic monsters of a past age. Sure there are a few extinct species but the illustriously rich biological history to which you and I are accustomed is not something with which the nebula is blessed. The history of life varies somewhat from planet to planet but the best guesses of the top minds put it to several thousand years old at most. If you want to create a species please contact CMod by private message, players are encouraged to contribute their own ideas and artwork.
